The picture below shows the proper placement of the music stand
against the harp.  The curved foot allows the stand to be tucked under
the base of the harp.  This let the harpist get the stand as close as
possible to the harp and yet still be able to move the D & C pedals
as shown below.
 

The wood section around the the threaded rod which fits
into the feet is rounded. This also allows you to turn it to a position
which will be good for placement next to the harp if needed.
Tighten the nut to your selected position.
